Katniss Everdeen:
16yo protagonist of the THG Trilogy. Female Tribute of District 12 for the 74th Annual Hunger Games.
The books are written from her point of view.
Primrose Everdeen:
Known as ‘Prim’, she is the 12yo sister of Katniss.
Peeta Mellark:
16yo son of a baker known as ‘the boy with bread’. He is the Male Tribute of District 12 for the 74th Annual Hunger Games.
Gale Hawthorne:
18yo hunting partner and best friend of Katniss Everdeen,
Haymitch Abenathy:
Victor of the 50th Annual Hunger Games when aged 14. One of two victors that District 12 has had and the only survivor. He is Katniss and Peeta’s ‘mentor’.
Effie Trinket:
Effie Trinket is a citizen of the Capitol who find herself in the position of District 12 Escort.
Cinna:
Cinna is Katniss’ stylist who she feels like she can really open up to.
Caesar Flickerman:
Caesar Flickerman is the host of a talk show, who interviews each of the tributes before they enter the ‘arena’.
Seneca Crane:
Crane is the Head Gamesmaker. Prior to the 74th Annual Hunger Games, Crane had organised both the 72nd and 73rd.
President Coriolanus Snow:
Snow is President of the Capitol, who enforces the Annual Hunger Games. His rule is often interpreted, and described as a ‘dictatorship’.
The Tributes:
As ‘The Hunger Games’ is written from Katniss’ point of view, we know what she knows. Therefore, some details on the other tributes are kept from us, the reader.
