What is ‘The Hunger Games’?
An Introduction to ‘The Hunger Games’
The Hunger Games are a young adult Sci-Fi Trilogy written by Author Suzanne Collins. The books are based in a post-Apocalyptic North America that is called Panem. It is written from the view-point of 16 year old protagonist Katniss Everdeen.
The Hunger Games themselves are a punishment for the 12 remaining districts of Panem. This is to serve as a reminder for the Uprising in which the Capitol ‘destroyed’ District 13. Each of the 12 districts offers two tributes, one boy and one girl [aged 12-18], to fight in an annual competition for the Capitol in which there is only one victor.

WINNING WILL MAKE YOU FAMOUS. LOSING MEANS CERTAIN DEATH.
“IN a dark vision of the near future, twelve boys and twelve girls are forced to appear in a live TV show called the Hunger games. There is only one rule: kill or be killed.
When sixteen-year-old Katniss Everdeen steps forward to take her sister’s place in the games, she sees it as a death sentence. But Katniss has been close to death before. For her, survival is second nature”
